Why aerial media works

THE NUMBERS
DON'T LIE.
YOUR CONTENT MATTERS.

Aerial media isn't a luxury add-on. For builders, landscapers, and real estate professionals, it's a direct lever on how fast you win clients, how much you charge, and how quickly your business grows. Here's the data — and the logic — behind why it works.

By the numbers

WHAT AERIAL MEDIA
DOES FOR YOUR BOTTOM LINE.

These figures come from NAR surveys, industry studies, and real-world data from businesses that made aerial content a consistent part of their marketing. The common thread: businesses that invest in showing their work win more of it.

68%
More listing views on MLS
Listings with aerial photography and video receive dramatically more views than those with ground-only photos — more eyes before the first showing.
National Association of Realtors
32%
Faster time on market
Properties marketed with aerial imagery sell significantly faster than comparable listings that rely on standard photography alone.
Real estate industry benchmark data
85%
Of buyers expect aerial media
In 2025, the majority of home buyers expect to see aerial visuals when searching for properties online. Listings without it are at a disadvantage before anyone clicks.
NAR Buyer Survey, 2025
More social engagement
Aerial video consistently outperforms standard photo posts on Instagram and Facebook for construction, landscaping, and real estate businesses.
Social media industry benchmarks
30%
Reduction in inspection costs
Construction and real estate firms using drone documentation for progress tracking and inspections report significant cost savings over traditional methods.
Construction industry data, 2025
10%
Higher sale prices on aerial listings
Homes marketed with professional aerial imagery sell for measurably more than comparable properties using standard photography — the ROI on a $550 package is concrete.

Content that generates leads

YOUR CONTENT
DOESN'T JUST
LOOK GOOD.
IT PERFORMS.

The footage we produce isn't just for your website or your portfolio. It's built from the ground up to work as paid advertising — the format, the length, the edit, the aspect ratio. Whether you run the ads yourself or hand the content to someone who does, you're starting with material that's already optimized to generate leads.

Most businesses running local ads are boosting iPhone photos and wondering why nothing converts. The difference between content that performs and content that doesn't is almost entirely in the quality of the creative. That's where we come in.

Landscapers
Before/after reels are the highest-converting ad format in home services

A 15-second aerial before/after on Meta Ads — targeted to homeowners within 20 miles — routinely outperforms any other format in the home services category. The transformation is the proof. You don't need to write a convincing headline when the video does it in five seconds.

Edited for autoplay with no sound
9:16 vertical for Instagram + TikTok ads
Aerial scale shows value of the work instantly
16:9 horizontal for Google display ads
Builders & Contractors
Progress and completion content builds trust before a prospect ever calls

Buyers of construction and contracting services do more research than almost any other consumer category — they're spending tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars. A retargeting ad that shows a project going from foundation to finished tells a story no testimonial can match. They've seen the work. The call is to confirm details, not to be convinced.

Completion reels convert as retargeting ads
Aerial scope shows scale competitors can't match
Multiple short cuts from one shoot = weeks of ads
Progress photos work in carousel ad formats
Real Estate
Aerial listing ads generate dramatically more inquiry volume than standard photos

Real estate agents running Facebook and Instagram ads with aerial video see measurably higher click-through rates and lower cost per lead than the same agents running ground-level photo ads. The aerial perspective is still novel enough to stop the scroll — and it immediately communicates information (lot size, location, neighborhood) that a static exterior photo never can.

60-sec flyover = perfect listing ad length
Stops scroll where ground photos don't
Stills work in Google display + carousel ads
One shoot fuels weeks of ad creative
The bottom line
One shoot, weeks of ad-ready content.
Every package we produce is already formatted for paid ads — the right lengths, the right aspect ratios, the right edit style for autoplay. You don't need a separate production budget for your advertising creative. You're already getting it.

Builders, Developers & Contractors
CONSTRUCTION

Whether you're building custom homes, commercial developments, or completing specialty trade work — every project produces a visual record, a marketing asset, and a portfolio piece for the next bid. Aerial media serves all of it.

Project records
A complete visual history of every build
A dated aerial record of every phase gives you something most contractors don't have — a comprehensive, organized history of your work from ground break to completion. It's useful for lenders, clients, and your own portfolio for years to come.
Lender & investor relations
Draw requests that get approved faster
Lenders and investors want to see progress. A branded photo gallery showing documented milestones builds confidence and speeds up draw approvals — especially on spec builds and multi-unit projects.
Business development
Your portfolio does the selling
Contractors who show up to bid meetings with cinematic completion reels and documented project histories win more than those who don't. The media becomes the sales tool.
2–3×
more bids won with strong visual portfolio
Social media
Construction content performs
Progress videos and before/after reveals are among the most shared content in the construction and home improvement space. Your work is inherently visual — it just needs to be captured right.
Specialty contractors
Before/after aerials close the next job
For roofers, concrete contractors, and specialty trades, a single aerial before/after of a completed job becomes the most powerful thing you can show a prospect. Aerial scope makes the quality and scale of the work immediately obvious.
Landscapers
LANDSCAPING

Landscaping is one of the most visually powerful businesses in the world — and the least documented. Aerial before/after content is the highest-performing marketing tool available to landscapers, and almost no one in WNY is doing it consistently.

Client referrals
The next job comes from the last one
Landscapers consistently report that when clients share their transformation reel on social media, it drives direct inquiries. The content sells the next project without any outreach.
Pricing power
Better portfolio, higher rates
Landscaping companies with strong visual portfolios — especially aerial perspective — can command measurably higher estimates. The quality of your presentation signals the quality of your work before they see it in person.
Social media
Before/after reels dominate feeds
Transformation reveals — especially with aerial shots that show the full scale of the work — are among the highest-engagement formats on Instagram and TikTok for home services businesses.

Competitive advantage
A gap almost no one is filling locally
In Western New York, virtually no landscaping companies are consistently producing aerial content. The first landscaper in their market to own this channel builds a brand advantage that compounds over time.
Real Estate
REAL ESTATE

Buyers decide online before they ever schedule a showing. Aerial media is the difference between a listing that earns a click and one that gets scrolled past. The data is consistent across markets and price points.

Listing performance
More views, more inquiries
Listings with aerial photography receive 68% more views on MLS and major listing platforms. More views directly translates to more inquiries, faster showings, and stronger offers.
68%
more MLS views — NAR data
Time on market
Homes sell faster
Properties marketed with aerial imagery and video consistently sell faster than comparable listings. In a market where days on market signals value, this directly benefits your sellers and your reputation.
Agent brand
Win the listing presentation
Sellers choose agents who demonstrate they'll market the home better. Walking into a seller presentation with aerial media samples from similar properties in the neighborhood is a tangible differentiator that closes listing agreements.
ROI
$550 package on a $350K listing
Even a 1% improvement in sale price on a $350,000 listing is $3,500. The aerial package pays for itself six times over if it produces a single stronger offer. Most agents recoup the cost on the first transaction.

Commercial real estate
Aerial context is essential for commercial listings
For office space, retail, industrial, and multi-family properties, location and site context are often more important than the building itself. Aerial media shows parking, access, surrounding amenities, and neighborhood in a way that no ground-level photo can — giving commercial buyers and tenants the information they need to decide remotely.
Why Focal Content Co specifically

DRONE FOOTAGE
IS ONLY HALF
THE EQUATION.

Most aerial media providers capture the footage and hand it over. The difference between footage and content is the edit — color grading, music, format optimization, social cropping, and knowing what a builder's investor deck actually needs versus what a landscaper's Instagram reel should look like.

With 8+ years of professional post-production experience, we bring a level of editorial craft that most drone operators simply don't have. That's not a minor detail. It's the entire product.

Common questions

THINGS PEOPLE
ASK BEFORE THEY BOOK.

Do I really need aerial media, or is this a nice-to-have?
For real estate, 85% of buyers now expect aerial visuals — it's no longer optional for competitive listings. For builders and landscapers, it's the fastest way to build a visual portfolio that wins you the next client before you've finished a conversation with them.
What if I'm not active on social media?
You don't have to be. The content we produce works just as well in email, on your website, in pitch presentations, and for your investors or lenders. Many of our clients use the photos and videos in ways that have nothing to do with Instagram.
How is this different from hiring a regular photographer?
A ground-level photographer can't show lot size, site context, neighborhood proximity, landscaping scale, or construction progress the way aerial can. We also deliver every format — not just a gallery of photos — so you're not re-hiring someone every time you need a different crop or cut.
What if my project isn't photogenic yet?
That's exactly why you start early. Progress documentation is most valuable when captured from the beginning — it tells the full story. A foundation-to-finish photo archive is worth far more than a handful of shots from the end of a project.
I've had photographers before and wasn't impressed. What's different?
We're editors first, pilots second. Most drone operators capture footage and drop it in a folder. We deliver a finished, production-quality product — color graded, formatted for every platform, with social crops included. The deliverable is the difference.
Is there a contract for retainer packages?
Our builder retainers have a 3-month minimum, which protects both sides — enough time to build a real archive and see the value. Landscaper seasonal packages run spring through fall. One-time shoots for real estate and home builders have no commitment beyond the single project.
